What is keyword Popularity?
Keyword popularity is defined by how many sites using that particular keyword. The more the site uses it, the more it is known. The known words are easily remembered by the folks. That’s why the genetic domain names such as “dogs.com”, “PersonalWebPresence.com ” or “WorkFromHome.com”. They say what is the browser will find in that respective site. The obviousness of the keyword will increase the value of it.
How to find the popularity of a keyword?
Again our big brother, Google, is a great help in regard. Punch the keyword, included within double quotes, in Google search box. At the top right you will find some thing like this - Results 1 - 10 of about 17,000,000 for personal web presence – (type them in written form and NOT like PersonalWebPresence)
This revels that “personal web presence” is used in 17 million pages. In general, anything more than a million is ok.
What is marketability?
What segment of the market does the Domain Name represent? “Cars.com” covers a wide range of the market than “Toyota.com”. Thus Cars.com has more value than Toyota.com.
There are many domain names that have no direct commercial values but they have indirect values. Example, TajMahal.com has few direct commercial values. You can’t sell it, but it has great indirect value. A site name “TajMahal.com” will attract many visitors daily. Thus a developed web site can monetize with travel related ads.
It is important to identify the marketability! Think creatively, identify them and inform the potential buyers.
